MACHINIST/TURNER
Job description
1. Job Outline - Responsible for but not limited to:
- You will be required to work on a variety of machinery, including: 5 axis mills, Lathes, and many more advanced machinery – should you be willing to receive further training.
- Expected to manufacture small batches, one-off designs, and repair mechanical components.
- Ability to operate both manual and CNC machines.
- Generate programs and designs using software (CAD Fusion 360, FANUC Controls, and Heidenhain) in-house training can be provided.
- Follow a drawing brief and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Inspect all components, to ensure they have been completed to a high standard.
- Must be a good team player, however, also able to work using your own initiative.
- Follow company health and safety procedures and wearing the correct uniform and PPE.
- Keep a neat and tidy workspace.
Skills & Experience
- Must be apprenticeship level trained.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in programming milling/turning
Preferred Additions
- Experience of working in food and pharmaceutical industries.
- Experience with, or knowledge of conveyor systems.
- Fork truck license is an advantage /or willingness to be trained.
- Willingness to be trained on new equipment the company invests in.
2. Working Hours
Our standard workweek consists of 40 hours, with overtime opportunities available during weekdays and weekends. However, starting times may vary depending on customer requirements and specific project deadlines. While the standard workday is 8 hours long, overtime is common and expected.
We generally have plenty of overtime opportunities, but these are not guaranteed. Typically, overtime is available on Saturdays and Sundays, with shifts often exceeding 8 hours. Many of our employees work over 20 hours of overtime per week, significantly boosting their annual income.
Additionally, we offer our customers a 24/7 service, meaning you might be called out for a job at any time, day, or night. If you are called out, you will receive a minimum 4-hour compensation, with standard hourly rates applied after the initial 4 hours.
Our factory is in Tredegar, but you might also be required to work at customer sites throughout Wales, the West Country, or other regions of the UK. This can sometimes require overnight stays for work or training purposes.
Since we are a small business, we value flexibility and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members. Our team members should be prepared to adapt to varying work schedules and assignments as customer needs arise.

All employees will be provided with company branded work clothing, along with all PPE.

Standard rate is £15.50 - with Overtime rates being time and a half (1.5) and double time (2.0) - these will be explained fully if successful.
28 Day Total Annual Leave (21 days + 7 bank holidays).
