MACHINIST/TURNER

Salary: From £32,240 + (overtime available) – Hourly rate dependent on experience

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled CNC Machinist to join our growing team. This is a hands-on, workshop-based role involving the production and repair of precision components using a range of advanced CNC and manual machinery.

You’ll be working on small batch projects, one-off designs, and bespoke mechanical parts for a variety of industrial sectors. We’re looking for someone with experience in both milling and turning, who is eager to develop further with in-house training on advanced systems like 5-axis mills, Fusion 360, FANUC, and Heidenhain controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of CNC and manual machines including 5-axis mills, lathes, and other advanced equipment

  • Manufacture small batches and one-off mechanical components to tight tolerances

  • Produce and adjust programs using software such as Fusion 360, FANUC, and Heidenhain (training provided if required)

  • Work from engineering drawings and complete associated paperwork accurately

  • Inspect all machined components to ensure quality and conformance to specification

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace

  • Follow all company health & safety procedures and PPE requirements

  • Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a close team

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in CNC programming and operation (milling and/or turning)

  • Familiarity with precision machining and working to tight tolerances

  • Confident interpreting technical drawings

  • Apprenticeship-trained in machining or mechanical engineering (preferred)

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail

  • Overtime Opportunities (Evenings & Weekend) at Overtime Rates:

    • Weekdays and Saturdays at 1.5x hourly rate

    • Sundays and Bank Holidays at 2x hourly rate

  • Minimum 4 hours pay for callouts, with appropriate overtime after

  • 28 days total annual leave (21 days holiday + 7 bank holidays)

Working Hours

  • Standard 40-hour week (08:00-16:00)

  • Overtime regularly available and expected depending on workload

  • Working hours and start times may vary depending on project requirements

  • Flexibility required due to the reactive nature of our services

  • Occasional night work, weekend work, and overnight stays are expected

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to reliably commute to Tredegar
